Westcountry Surf School
My name is Joel Bishop and I run Westcountry Surf School with my sister, Naomi in Watergate Bay, Newquay.
We want you to know about the opportunities to get young people into surfing. We have both lived in Cornwall all of our lives and grown up on the beaches of Cornwall. Since the age of 16, we have both been RNLI lifeguards. We undertake yearly re-qualifications and have 16 years experience between us. We have lifeguarded and surf coached in 4 different countries around the world meaning that we have experience working with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
We believe that educating young people about the sea is fundamental to life in the south west.
Through our work with the RNLI, we have travelled around primary and secondary schools in Cornwall delivering beach safety talks. Westcountry Surf School offers a comprehensive and inclusive experience in the environment so that they come away with a thorough understanding of the sea.
Surfing is a great way into this, as it gets people outside and engages them in an invigorating sport. By surfing with us, you will get an in-depth safety talk followed by fun warm up games. This will lead into an interactive surf lesson, broken down into stages to suit all learners and bring out the best in everyone.
Please find more information about Westcountry Surf School on our website: http://westcountrysurfschool.co.uk We are offering a range of different ways to get young people in the water and surfing. We guarantee that the ratio will be no more than 6 youngsters per 1 instructor.
